defending the universe...one post at a time...

Revisiting the resolutions!

1)  Start blogging and posting some of the random stuff I come across

FAIL

2)  Learn Mandarin. (at least to speak and understand).  I think I have to sign up for some program.

EPIC FAIL, does anyone have a copy of Rosetta Stone Mandarin?

3)  Eat Breakfast.  Char swears (Thanks Norman, I am giving you the big L for correcting me) by it and thinks I should start, bought some Granola cereal today with raisins and almonds.

QUASI-FAIL - Maybe 3 days week, need a new cereal for the office.

4)  Read a book a month that is not a comic book.  Usually read non-fiction business/economic type books, religious/christian titles, or (gulp) science fiction novels.  Open to anything if it comes highly recommended...

Semi-pass - I think I am just about on target..currently reading a copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that I found in the library in the basement of my apartment complex next to the laundry room.

5)  Manage money and keep a budget.  Realize that I probably need to be a little better than "I earn more than I spend" and started using Mint.com.  Looks like it's some cool software, hopefully no one steals all my account information..

Still spend less than I earn

Book of the Month

So I have decided on the book that I'm going to read for the month of January.

Drumroll please...

Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan.  Somewhat of an oldie, but read some good reviews, it's about food, and sounds interesting enough.

Read a good article in the Journal today about Atlas Shrugged and realized that I haven't read it yet.  That's my book for February.

Colbert Report

So Gwen got us VIP tickets to a taping of the Colbert Report tonight and it was friggin' awesome.

We all got to shake his hand as well since we sat in the front row.  He's pretty funny on the show and a pretty normal guy off it.

If you saw it, you can see us in the front when the camera pans around the audience for a good second or so...I DVR-ed it!
